(Me)taphors
This week at Pasteur, the students read Sylvia Plath's poem, "Metaphors." We talked at length about both metaphor and simile and spent several minutes at the beginning of the class providing examples of each. Once I felt confident that the students knew their figurative language, I asked them to write their own Metaphors poem about themselves. I urged them not to think of the poem as a linear story, but rather to think of each line as a new beginning. I told them to try and include at least 8 metaphors/similes about themselves and to express ALL aspects of who they are. Great poems!
